Will God Spare This Nation?

ImageWith Barack Obama, we have seen the most cynical U.S. Presidency in history. He has disparaged the people of this great nation, created unprecedented contempt among the citizenry in what could loosely be considered a post-racial era, and denigrated the office of the presidency by ushering in Chicago-style thug politics into the highest office in the land. Lies, deceit, manipulation and other gutter tactics are the norm. As Americans we have a right to expect more. In fact, we have a right to DEMAND more from ALL our politicians. But let’s be clear. This began long before Barack Obama took the oath of office.

Left vs. Right politics should be placed on the scrap heap of history. We should see things in terms of Right vs. Wrong rather than Left vs. Right. If there’s one thing that has become clear to me over the last 10 years or so is that you can no longer trust a “D” or a “R” when contemplating your allegiance. I definitely have a bent toward one side over the other. But even that bias doesn’t assure me that my candidate will operate with integrity and with the best interests of ALL at heart.

I want REAL men and women of character. Men and women who understand the true essence of Americanism. Men and women who understand that this country is headed for troubled times. EVERYTHING is at stake. I think it’s fair to say that the majority of us want a nation that will continue to allow each of us to pursue life, liberty and happiness WITHOUT the overbearing burdens of an overreaching government. We can still save the Republic for future generations if we refuse to remain apathetic toward those who are actively dismantling our nation. All I seek is freedom, liberty and justice FOR ALL – equal opportunity to succeed and prosper based on work ethic, etc. I seek a system which seeks to elevate all, not tear down the successful to level the playing field, for competition spurs greatness.

We are on the precipice of losing those rare and precious rights. We are on the precipice of surrendering our freedom and liberty to the heavy yoke of government tyranny. I have been watching the HBO John Adams special recently and it’s clear that the original impetus for breaking away from Great Britain was far less dire than the position we find ourselves in today. Make no mistake about it. Open your eyes and see things through an unbiased lens and you’ll see the truth in my words. If the government is targeting/punishing SOME people for maintaining certain beliefs, then we’re ALL in jeopardy of being targeted. The longer we let this type of activity stand, the more desperate our fight for freedom and liberty will become.

If you’ve never read the following quote by Dietrick Boenhoeffer then you need to read it a couple times to realize the implications:

“First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”

NONE of us are safe when a government becomes corrupt and overreaching. We will ALL lose our freedom and liberty if we don’t stand up against injustices regardless of who commits them. If an act is wrong when a person with a “R” after his name commits it then it is wrong when committed by a person with a “D” (and vice versa). Men and women of God stand up against unrighteousness no matter WHO commits that unrighteous act. Seek God or you will inherit the devil.

Speak now or forever hold your peace…what little of it you may be able to find in coming days.

Forced Equality

“The weapon of the inept is forced equality.” – David C. Coleman

Thomas Paine on oppression…

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.

Thomas Paine, Dissertation on First Principles of Government, December 23, 1791
